Incorporating the latest trends into wedding details of any faith can be challenging. After all, we often walk a fine line between chic and clique. However, incorporating these trends into a wedding with Jewish touches just might be easier than you think!

The Knot recently highlighted a few of the current wedding tends such as Gatsby Glam and English Romance as well as the food station craze and couture cocktails. These all reign as current bridal must-have trends. Let’s take a look at these trends with twist of Judaism!

A focal point of any Jewish wedding is the chuppah! The centerpiece of the religious ceremony, it symbolizes the home the couple will create. Hand carried, hung from the ceiling, lace, toile, floral or lit; the chuppah is a statement in personal choice and the ultimate visual for any wedding theme. You can easily evoke the Great Gatsby’s Roaring 20’s by creating an opulent, glitzy wedding chuppah!

Incorporating English elegance into a Jewish wedding is as simple as scheduling!  Since Jewish weddings can’t be held on Shabbat (Friday evening at sundown to Saturday evening at sundown) why not suggest that your bride opt for a Sunday wedding? Then help her envision all the men donning their “morning coats,” at a fashionable Sunday ceremony. A stunning cathedral length veil is perfect for the Jewish bride who wants a Bedekken (the veiling of the bride ceremony) as a part of the day.

In addition to saving the couple money, the timing also lends itself very well to incorporating another big wedding trend—the unexpected food stations!  Following a Sunday morning wedding, a biscuit bar with different selections of jams, honey and flavored butters is a fabulous Kosher dairy menu option to serve as hors d’oeuvres.

Thanks to Amy Atlas and the creation of the dessert buffet, the food station trend has been elevated to include all areas of the reception—from cocktails to dessert!

Brides who are open to incorporating the trend of unexpected food stations make a kosher-style wedding reception a piece of cake (pun intended)!

It’s easy to focus on separating the meat and milk when there are unique and action-oriented stations. Imagine a “Make Your Own Grilled Cheese” with multiple cheese selections, fruits and vegetables or even fish. No meat is necessary to achieve this modern trend. Need other ideas for unexpected food stations that don’t use pork, shellfish or mix meat and dairy? How about a fish taco station using mahi-mahi or tilapia? You can even encourage your bride to take this trend up a notch by using unique food truck concepts.

Finally, infusion bars that allow guests to customize their own libations are leading the pack among the Jewish wedding couture cocktails trend. These fun cocktail bars let your guests tailor a beverage to their own personal taste while also encouraging conversation amongst all the attendees.

The goal of any wedding trend at either a Jewish, Jew-ish or non-Jewish wedding is to help guests feel special and enjoy a memorable time. Use any one of these current trends to help your brides embrace ‘chic’ and leave ‘clique’ behind.
